Community Based Training
Eliza Jennings Training Program
The
Eliza Jennings Senior Care Network, a nursing care and assisted
living center on Cleveland’s West Side graciously
hosts one of Cornucopia’s community-based vocational
training programs for people with disabilities.
A Cornucopia case manager is on-site working with
trainees to develop work habits, attitudes, behaviors,
and skills they will use in any competitive job.
Job Skills
Trainees work side-by-side with staff members in most of the daily operations of the dietary, laundry and housekeeping departments facing the challenges and rewards of competitive employment. Trainees also work on critical work behaviors such as work speed, quality, cooperative interactions and good attendance.
Work Expierence
This experience prepares individuals for work
in settings such as restaurants, hospitals, hotels,
and food service operations. Although this program
can prepare someone for jobs in these settings,
placement is completed based on individual goals.
Customized Job Placement
The vocational training program at Eliza Jennings
can also help evaluate an individual’s potential
for other areas of competitive employment. Cornucopia
staff can help trainees determine which areas
of employment they would be best suited for while
they may even be discovering areas of new personal
interest. Additionally, trainees who meet their
goals and successfully complete their vocational
training program are in a prime position to be
hired by Eliza Jennings should an appropriate
position be available.
